I had a great time windsurfing this summer traveling with the American Windsurfing Tour. The first stop was Waddell Creek on the California Coast near Santa Cruz. We didn’t get the best of conditions, but it was enough to run through a complete single elimination and come out with a result. I personally didn’t do as well as I had hoped, losing in my first heat, and having no chance to climb through the double elimination bracket due to the lack of conditions. Still, it was a good time and I got to explore a new sailing location. The local sailors were awesome, even throwing parties with excellent home-cooked food and plenty of beer to go around. It’s definitely a spot I will come back to.
I managed to get some decent press too, making the front page of the sports section on the Santa Cruz Sentinel. Here is the picture they used, and the link to the article. Santa Cruz Sentinel.
