For the past week, the Starboard AWT Hatteras Wave Jam has been running on the East Coast. It is the 5th stop of the American Windsurfing Tour which has had many amazing events this year. Ezzy Team rider Kevin Pritchard went over there from Maui and came up with the victory over fellow Maui local Morgan Noireaux in an all out winner take all battle for first place.
“I am super happy on the win here in Hatteras. This place is always awesome to come to and hang out and have some fun. This year was pretty much almost like work. We were up and down the beach everyday by 8 am and we were not leaving till around 6. Long days at the beach but we managed to pull off the divisions off and have a ton of fun hanging out at the beach. I think Hatteras is a great spot for windsurfing as it gives you so many options. I got to sail side off shore winds, side shore winds, side onshore and if you wanted to you could walk across to the sound side and sail flat water. What a place for everyone. It was also great for proving the Ezzy Taka works in all those conditions. I had one sail that I used all week, the 5.4 Taka. Three battens still working in all those conditions. I was pretty impressed.” said Kevin
Pritchard’s win here makes things exciting coming into the last event. Levi Siver, Morgan and Kevin all have a shot at the AWT overall title. Chris Freeman, AWT Head judge had this to say “As we begin to look forward to the 2014 finale at the Aloha Classic the Pro bracket is wide open with three riders, Levi, Kevin and Morgan all able to claim the top spot left vacant by 2 time winner Camille Juban (who missed most of the Tour through injury). The home of windsurfing will provide the perfect stadium for the eventual crowing of our champion this year.”
Congratulations!
