It’s prime time in the Gorge; windy, hot and the sailors are here from around the world. Did I say it was hot? Maybe it’s been a little too hot for the past few days, as the first heat wave has shut down the wind. It’s been windy all but a few days for the past two months. The river levels have been the best in years with a normal spring runoff combined with a windy weather pattern.
The season kicked off at the annual Windfest in Hood River the end of June. Kevin Pritchard was there with clinics and sharing his expertise on the new 2013 sails from Ezzy. Demos are in full swing on the beach at Doug’s, The Hatchery, and River Front Park. And the AWT Freestyle Frenzy and Big Air Contest starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday. I’ll be there with demos and the guys from Windance will be joining me with boards from RRD and Mistral. Stop by and take a Tiger, Panther, or Legacy for a free test ride. The Legacy has been surprising sailors who thought their budgets couldn’t include new sails. David Ezzy worked hard to build a sail with the performance and quality he expects from all his sails at a more affordable price.
Here’s some sailors I’ve met recently here in the Gorge.

While looking for a good used Ezzy at Windance, Ben (left) helped this sailor select two new Legacy’s for not much more than a used sail.
